The famous Chianti rooster

  • Our final hotel was in an old castle. The walk to our room was like walking through a maze - up stairs and then through various corridors and sitting rooms. The room itself sagged significantly in the middle, but it was very cool.
  • The bathroom was also interesting. The shower was at the top of these stairs - Patty pointed out that this would never have gotten past the lawyers in the US.

  • Chris (one of the other dads on the trip, on the left) and I did a "bonus" ride on this day for a total of 55 miles and 6,000 feet of climbing. It was a great extension.

  • The monastery we rode up to where we got a tour and then had a great picnic lunch.
  • Doug finishing the ride up to the monastery. It was steep at the end.

  • On the final day we had a short ride down into Greve and back up the hill. Here are the girls in Greve ready to head back up and say goodbye.
