Outside our hotel before we depart it permanently.

  • We passed a ski jump from the 1956 olympics.
  • We loved these public fountains we found everywhere. No problems finding places to fill our water bottles.
  • The bike trails were amazing.

  • Our first real day of riding was incredibly scenic. It was 25 miles down hill, but we stopped so much that it took 4 hours! All I had was my phone, so the photos aren't great.

  • On day two we rode 25 miles downhill along a beautiful bike path from Cortina to a lake at Auronzo di Cadore. The bike path replaces an old train route and these (used to be) train stations were all along the route.

  • A snack stop. We had plenty of food the entire trip!
  • This is the van and trailer that moved our bikes when we weren't moving them. Here we're just using it as a bike stand at the rest stop.
  • We loved the flowers that were grown in the flower boxes outside of the windows of so many of the buildings.
  • It was fantastic to get to ride along such a great bike path with no auto traffic. In the distance is "God's throne" - a spectacular mountain peak.

  • On day two, after the 25 mile sanctioned ride, a few of us followed Steve Folkman who wanted to ride up the Passo di Giau - a famous mountain pass for bicyclists in the Giro d'Italia and other bike races. It was incredibly tough, but treated us with incredible vistas. In this photo you can just see my handlebars in the foreground and barely see the town we started in in the valley. It was also very cold at the top.
