Getting ready for Thursday's hike

  • The sunset the first night was fantastic.

  • We hiked 8 miles with over 2,000 ft of elevation gain. We started by climbing the Matt Davis trail to the Mt. Tam ranger station.

  • This gives a sense of the climb. It was gorgeous, but steep.
  • Now we're heading back down a trail called "Steep Ravine".

  • It was a gorgeous descent.
  • And at times it was so steep that a ladder was constructed.

  • Katie kept waiting for her Dad who was bringing up the rear because of the numerous photo options.

  • Now we're on the Dipsea trail on our final descent back to Stinson beach (in distance)

  • Here is a 180+ degree panorama taken from the Dipsea trail. You can see most of our hike from here. We started from the beach, climbed up in the biggest valley of trees just to the left of center in the photo, walked along the ridge to the right, then descended through the trees on the right, then came back on the trail to the right (which is of course right next to the trail on the left).
  • The house we rented is between the first and second houses on the beach at the bottom left.
